Impressionist and Modern

Alon Zakaim Fine Art is proud to announce their latest Impressionist and Modern exhibition, being held in their Cork Street gallery. The exhibition explores a wide range of the subjects popular in these periods; Henri Lebasque examines the nude in his exotic and arabesque Nu Debout au Collier, displaying the influence of Matisse whilst grounded in the artist's accomplished Impressionist technique. Gaston la Touche's La Fête Joyeuse explores the revels of high society at the time, contrasting starkly to Maximilien Luce's austere portrait of working class dockers in Le Debardeur.
The exhibition highlight, Louis Anquetin's Cirque Fernando, is a key piece in this influential artist's oeuvre. Executed when Anquetin was only 26, it is a strikingly original and accomplished work, executed in the style he devised influenced by stained glass and Japanese wood block prints, that was itself to influence the work of Vincent van Gogh. The exhibition also features important works by Béla Kádár, Jean Souverbie, and Jacques Martin-Ferrières.
The exhibition will run at 30 Cork St., London W1S 3NG from 23 January - 6 March 2013. Entry is free, and gallery opening hours are 9am - 6pm, Monday - Friday, or by appointment.
