Asian Art in London

Alon Zakaim Fine Art is delighted to present a collection of fine Japanese works of art in their upper gallery during Asian Art in London. The exhibition contains both intricate 19th century incense burners, and samurai suits dating from the Edo period.
The incense burners date from the Meiji period, an era extending from 1868-1912, at a time when new industrial techniques were being applied to the ancient skills of craftsmanship of the region. Each piece has a minutely detailed surface depicting mythological creatures and scenes from Chinese legend. One piece features a graceful winding dragon at the base supporting a narrow vertical structure, each section carefully counterbalanced to create a complex work of elegance and poise.
The Samurai suits also on display prove as fine examples of 'Tosei Gusoku' style (literally, equipment of the day) from the Edo period in the 18th Century. The previous owner of one of the armours is a descendant of a retainer who served the Toki family in Numata. The crest on the fore-crest is known as the family badge of the Toki family.
Alon Zakaim Fine Art is also delighted to welcome FitzGerald Fine Arts who will be exhibiting a selection of Asian Contemporary paintings and ceramics in the downstairs gallery throughout the week. Please click here for further information.
Asian Art in London will run until 14 November 2015. The gallery will be open Monday to Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.
