Vittorio Reggianini

(Italian, 1858-1938)

Vittorio Reggianini was an Italian genre painter born in Modena, Italy in 1858. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Modena and painted scenes of the bourgeois class. Reggianini was a “Costume Painter,” a group of artists that aimed at reviving the romanticized lens of culture even during times of military conflict. He was incredibly skilled at painting opulence in fashion and decoration. Later in life, he taught at the Accademia di Belle Arti where he had once studied. He died in 1938.
