(Italian, c.1510-before 1572)
Girolamo Dente, also known as Girolamo di Tiziano, was an Italian Old Master painter born circa 1510. Dente was a scholar and assistant to Titian and copied the original work of his master. Dente’s work mirrored Titian’s so closely that experts could not distinguish differences between the two. The artist’s work thrived in Venice from 1550 to 1580, though Dente passed away circa 1572.
