Alon Zakaim Fine Art is proud to announce their Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Sculpture exhibition being held at their Cork Street gallery. The show will feature a collection of works by key artists and explore the range of styles and depth of content employed throughout these periods.

Although a century apart, spellbound by their Italian experience, Barthomolomeus Breenbergh and Charles Francois Lacroix de Marseill both portray a sophisticated sense of light within their masterful landscapes.

The contrasting representation of high society and working class life, subjects explored in great depth during this rapidly changing era, reveal the dexterity and powers of observation of artists of the 19th Century. Paintings by Charles Soulacroix, Vittorio Reggianini and Delphin Enjolras reveal the luxury of 19th Century society in contrast to Théodore Gérard's Market Day and Petrus van Schendel's Evening Market, which both employ tonal depth and strong lighting contrast to observe the lives of the workers.

Demonstrating a wealth of variety including sculpture, portraiture and landscape, the exhibition provides a broad overview in which both classical and social content played a key role, and reveals the breadth of styles employed by artists in these periods that often go underestimated in relation to the variety and enduring influence of the works produced.

The exhibition will run at 30 Cork St., London W1S 3NG from 29 November 2012 - 18 January 2013.
Entry is free, and gallery opening hours are 9am - 6pm, Monday - Friday, or by appointment.
